딥테크 기반의 디지털 헬스케어 스타트업에 투자 및 육성 계획
디지털 헬스케어 전문 투자사, 디지털 헬스케어 파트너스 (대표 최윤섭, 이하 DHP)가 중소벤처기업부의 팁스(TIPS) 운영사로 신규 선정되었다고 7월 30일 밝혔다.
팁스는 중소벤처기업부의 대표적인 민간 주도형 기술 창업 지원 프로그램으로, 민간 투자사를 통해 우수한 창업기업을 선발하고, 민간 투자와 정부 자금을 매칭 지원하여 고급 기술 인력의 창업 활성화를 목적으로 한다. 최근 신규 운영사 22곳이 선발되었으며, DHP는 신한벤처투자, KB인베스트먼트, 삼성화재해상보험, 500글로벌 등과 함께 일반형 운영사로 이름을 올렸다.
이번 DHP의 컨소시엄은 헬스케어 스타트업의 발굴, 투자, 육성에 특화되어 관련 분야 전문성을 갖춘 파트너들로 구성되었다. 의료 기관으로는 한국을 대표하는 상급종합병원이자, 교수 창업에 적극적인 삼성서울병원과 분당서울대병원 창업보육센터가 참여하였고, 세브란스 병원과 연계된 바이오헬스케어 특화 기술지주회사인 연세대학교 바이오헬스기술지주회사, 의료기기 규제 특구인 강원도의 스타트업 생태계를 구축하는 강원창조경제혁신센터, 한국 디지털 헬스케어 분야의 대표적인 선배 창업 기업인 루닛, 미국과 한국 시장에서 활발하게 투자하는 미국 벤처캐피털인 스트롱벤처스 등이 DHP의 컨소시엄에 파트너로 참여했다.
DHP는 이번 팁스 운영사 선정을 통해서 딥테크를 기반으로 의료를 혁신하는 디지털 헬스케어 스타트업에 활발하게 투자할 예정이다. DHP의 추천을 통해서 팁스에 선정된 기업은 투자 유치 및 멘토링과 함께 일반형 팁스의 경우 최대 5억원, 딥테크 팁스의 경우 최대 15억원을 자금을 지원받는다. 또한 창업 사업화 및 해외 마케팅 자금을 각각 최대 1억씩, 총 2억원을 지원받을 수 있다.
DHP는 지난 2016년 최윤섭 대표를 비롯한 의료 전문가들이 중심이 되어 창업한 디지털 헬스케어 스타트업 전문 투자사이자 엑셀러레이터이다. 지금까지 7개의 펀드를 운용하면서, 쓰리빌리언, 닥터다이어리, 강남언니, 해피문데이, 휴레이포지티브, 메디히어 등을 비롯한 40여 개의 디지털 헬스케어 스타트업에 투자해 왔다.
또한 최근 DHP는 디지털 헬스케어에 집중해서 투자하는 신규 펀드를 결성했을 뿐만 아니라, '의사 창업가 부트캠프 2024'을 기획하여, 의사 출신 창업자를 발굴, 육성하는 등 신규 디지털 헬스케어 스타트업에 대한 투자 검토를 활발하게 진행하고 있다.
DHP의 최윤섭 대표는 "딥테크 기반의 디지털 헬스케어 스타트업이 의료를 혁신할 수 있도록 팁스를 통해 적극 지원할 계획"이라고 표시했다.

Plans to invest in and nurture deep-tech-based digital healthcare startups
Digital Healthcare Partners (CEO Yoonsup Choi, hereinafter DHP), a digital healthcare-focused investment firm, announced on July 30 that it has been newly selected as a TIPS operator by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS).
TIPS is a flagship private-sector-led technology startup support program of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. It selects outstanding startups through private investment firms and provides matching support of private investment and government funding, with the goal of promoting startups by highly skilled technical talent. Recently, 22 new operators were selected, and DHP was named a general-type operator alongside Shinhan Venture Investment, KB Investment, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, and 500 Global.
DHP's consortium is specialized in the discovery, investment, and nurturing of healthcare startups, and is composed of partners with expertise in the relevant fields. Among medical institutions, the participants include Samsung Medical Center—a leading tertiary general hospital in Korea that actively supports faculty entrepreneurship—and the Startup Incubation Center of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. Other partners in DHP's consortium include Yonsei University Bio-Health Technology Holdings, a bio-healthcare-specialized technology holding company affiliated with Severance Hospital; the Gangwon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, which is building the startup ecosystem in Gangwon Province, a regulatory special zone for medical devices; Lunit, a leading pioneer startup in Korea's digital healthcare field; and Strong Ventures, a U.S. venture capital firm actively investing in both the U.S. and Korean markets.
Through this selection as a TIPS operator, DHP plans to actively invest in digital healthcare startups that innovate medicine based on deep tech. Companies selected for TIPS through DHP's recommendation will receive investment and mentoring, along with funding of up to KRW 500 million for general-type TIPS and up to KRW 1.5 billion for deep-tech TIPS. In addition, they can receive up to KRW 100 million each for startup commercialization and overseas marketing, for a total of KRW 200 million.
DHP is a digital healthcare startup-focused investment firm and accelerator founded in 2016 by medical experts including CEO Yoonsup Choi. To date, DHP has operated seven funds and invested in more than 40 digital healthcare startups, including 3billion, Dr. Diary, Gangnam Unni, Happy Moonday, Huray Positive, and MediHere.
Furthermore, DHP has recently not only formed a new fund focused on investing in digital healthcare, but has also launched the 'Doctor Entrepreneur Bootcamp 2024' to discover and nurture founders with medical backgrounds, actively reviewing investments in new digital healthcare startups.
DHP CEO Yoonsup Choi stated, "We plan to actively support deep-tech-based digital healthcare startups through TIPS so that they can innovate medicine."
