Choi defines digital healthcare broadly as every domain in which digital technologies—IoT, AI, 3D printing, AR/VR, and more—are applied to health management and medicine, spanning fields from diagnosis, treatment, and prevention to exercise, sleep, and nutrition management.
Among domestic VCs that may appear similar to one another, he points to 'medical expertise' as DHP's key differentiator. Backed by specialists across multiple clinical departments, venture partners with C-level backgrounds at healthcare companies such as Noom and VUNO, regulatory experts formerly with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and a testbed in the form of a hospital network with more than 3,000 beds, DHP offers founders comprehensive value that ordinary VCs find difficult to provide.
Choi also emphasizes that, because medicine deals with human lives, it may be conservative in the short term, but in the long term it is actually the field where innovation spreads the fastest. In his view, once sufficient clinical evidence and cost-effectiveness are secured, new digital healthcare technologies permeate medical settings around the world in an instant.
